DIWI were appointed as the Independent Construction Supervisor to oversee and manage the construction of the Podkova— Makaza Access Road to the new border crossing between Bulgaria and Greece. The 20km route included the construction of the 120m span Podkova Bridge, the 160m span Kirkovo Bridge and the 200m Makaza Viaduct, with a construction value of €19 Million. This strategically important project provided critical improvements to the existing transport infrastructure, which were required to strengthen co-operation between the two border regions. The construction of the road enabled the opening of the new border crossing and provided a route for heavy international traffic movement. Our engineering, quality control and management expertise were applied to steer the project to a successful conclusion. The 20km route included the construction of the 120m span Podkova Bridge, the 160m span Kirkovo Bridge and the 200m Makaza Viaduct, with a construction value of €19 Million.
